Bishop O'Dowd High School
Class of 1960
Reunion 2022
Despite the heat wave of at least two centuries (20th & 21st), ’60 Pizza Night, September 8, 2022, was a success. Twenty-four classmates and friends (including spouses) gathered to have dinner at Gay Nineties Pizza, in Pleasanton, in a very relaxed and informal setting. The A/C did its best to control the unprecedented temps, and the highly spirited Class of 1960 prevailed.
Despite challenging weather, all who said they were coming arrived, and in the best of humor: Claire & Mitch Capor, Bob & Starla Chimienti, Joe Doll, Marie & Rocky Franciosas, Pat Freitas, Geri Graham Sandor, John & Toni Heagerty, Kevin McKenney, Mike Kealy, Mary Jo Mahoney, Jackie Menghini Pickard, Dennis Murphy, Barbara Rodrigues Pilling & Barbara’s sister Rosemary Rodrigues ’64 Caprio, Carol Russell Dabb, Jim Salber, , Donna & Mike Santich, Linda “Dutch” Schultz Petri, and Mary Lou Sullivan Hallisey.
We encourage those who couldn’t attend Reunion 2022 to join their classmates on the monthly '60 Zoom call; the next one will be Tuesday, September 27th. E.mail John ’60, jdheagerty@gmail.com, and he will send you the link.
Good, lively conversations over pizza, beers, soft drinks and other tasty selections from a wide menu were preceded by an hourīšĸ social at The Rose Hotel. Jane Gonsalves DeCoite surprised everyone there with a nice visit. Similarly, following dinner, with 100° blanketing Pleasanton shortly before 9pm, most headed back to The Rose’s bar for cooling refreshments before last call at 11pm.
For nine who enjoyed staying overnight at the wonderfully cool Rose, a very nice breakfast buffet allowed classmates to continue socializing ’til almost Noon (including even a second delightful cameo by Jane ’60). To state the obvious, this is a very compatible, energized, and enduring group. As someone noted, these lively 80 (±) year-old kids have been doing this since first trudging up the hill to classes off 98th Avenue in early September 1956, now almost exactly sixty-six years ago.
Go ’60 Dragons!
